Artist Statement
Memory doesn’t return as a neat story. It arrives as an image, a sensation, a body holding what it has survived. In this series of work, I follow internal boundaries and transitions, the private crossings we make as we grow, leave, return, and remember where we came from. I’m interested in what is fleeting and what persists: how identity reforms over time, and how the line between inner life and the world around us can soften, blur, or break.
Painting is how I slow these moments down. I work as an act of attention, letting nuance do what explanation can’t. The work begins with the personal, but it’s made in the hope of recognition, that moment when someone else feels a door inside themselves move.
